Cool
I would live there.
Because if this guy runs, he’s my guy. I read today (thanks, batesline, where I read it first) that Tom Coburn might run for President. If that happens, I am officially clearing my calendar for 2008 to volunteer for his campaign. If you read my blog, you may have noticed that I LOVE Tom Coburn. It would be a dream come true for me if he ran. The only downside would be he would no longer be in the Senate to be a thorn in the side of all the power hungry politicians there.
If you are looking for someone who is Reagan-esque and a regular (read: non-power hungry) guy, he’s the one.
I don’t generally allow anonymous comments, especially when they have nothing to do with the post. If you have hatemail or angry comments you need to direct at me, feel free to email me at mshell at mshellb.com. I have no idea who you are or what you are talking about, so feel free to explain that as well. Oh wait…maybe I do. I would have posted your comment even though it didn’t have anything to do with the topic, if you had not been a coward and had given your real name and email address.
I like to have adult conversations not fight via anonymous comments on blogs. Brittany can tell you my phone number. Give me a call. I’m happy to discuss anything you have a problem with me over, rather than letting it fester and grow. It is extremely stupid and cowardly to make anonymous comments on blogs, especially when I can guess within about five people who you are.
P.S. How are things in Newcastle?
Michael DelGiorno announced today that he was moving to Nashville. While listening to one of my favorite shows, Mark Levin, I heard the announcement from Brian Gann that the replacement for MDG is Chris Medlock. Gwen Freeman will continue as the (now) much less interrupted co-host.
Goodbye to the unfunny Michael DelGiorno. You did a lot of good for this city, so thanks, but you piss me off too much- and you can’t sing worth a darn. I will miss you a little, though, I admit.

Police won’t file any charges in a near-riot that occurred last weekend as officers attempted to arrest a murder suspect. An unruly crowd attacked the police with rocks, and shots were fired as well. No officers suffered any serious injuries.
However, because of the large number of people involved and the confusion of the scene, investigators say they just don’t have enough information to file any charges in connection with the incident.
They don’t rule out the possibility of pursuing charges in the future, assuming someone comes forward with information about possible suspects.
It all began around 7:00 p.m. Saturday when officers tried to approach Rico Starks, 18, a suspect in the murder of Mark Jordan, also 18, in August of 2006.
Starks hid in the apartment complex at 2104 N. Hartford, refusing to obey officers’ commands to surrender.
A crowd of 150 to 200 people gathered as more officers arrived, and the confrontation began.
Police called in the Special Operations Team , and other officers from all across the city responded to the area as well.
Despite the rocks and the gunfire, the police managed to regain control and eventually talked Starks into surrendering.
Along with the murder charge, Starks also had a warrant for shooting with intent to kill, filed in January of this year, and faces burglary and obstructing an officer charges from Saturday’s incident as well.
Starks remains jailed on a total bond of $258,000.
TPD officials say they’re proud of the way their officers kept their heads and didn’t overreact to the situation. If they had, according to TPD Capt. Tracie Crocker, the situation could have quickly spun completely out of control.
The late economist Peter Drucker said a few years ago: “Every few hundred years in Western history there occurs a sharp transformation. … Fifty years later, there is a new world. And the people born then cannot even imagine the world in which their grandparents lived.”
I believe we are witnessing a modern effort to transform the church into an institution that experiences broad cultural acceptance. This effort, known as the Emerging Church, is a much-talked about movement that has brought new challenges into the Church of Jesus Christ.
The so-called Emerging Church movement was formed out of frustration with dead and irrelevant evangelicalism. The problem is that it has decided to modernize and re-create the church so as not to offend sinners. This renders virtually meaningless the life-changing message of the Gospel.
John 8:32 tells us: “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” This is not truth that can be modified to fit cultural whims; it is as relevant today as it was when John was inspired by God to write those words around A.D. 70.
However, the website of The Leadership Network, the headquarters of the Emerging (or sometimes Emergent) Church movement, states that their outlook on “truth” offers a “flexible approach to theology whereby individual differences in belief and morality are accepted within reason.”
The site further states that members wish to “reanalyze the Bible against the context into which it was written.”
This is very dangerous territory.
Such a view opens perilous avenues that enable suggestions that Jesus is not the Christ, that the Bible is not inspired by God Himself and that there are ways to heaven other than through Jesus. Such notions counter the very fabric of the Gospel.
In this era of diversity and political correctness, we can ill afford to weaken the very foundations of the Gospel.
But the Emerging Church has determined that core doctrine and theology are sometimes roadblocks to converting the lost.
This is the epitome of contradiction.
Further, Emerging Church groups have decided that profanity and vulgar talk from the pulpit and elsewhere is acceptable because it is relevant to the culture. Such teachings counter the biblical teachings that Christians are “new creatures in Christ.”
Another problem of the Emerging Church is that its leaders, who no doubt started out with good intentions, have very little theological training. Their emphasis has been on appearances. Many of its leaders have been to “conferences” that tell them how to do things, but they don’t know why they are doing them. Thus, they have a little bit of knowledge, but no wisdom.
Dr. James McDonald spoke my feelings when he said: “I resonate deeply with much of the criticism flowing from the Emerging Church against current Western Christianity, but I am deeply grieved to see the emergent remedies accepted so uncritically by those who feel gratified by the accuracy of their critiques.”
While I have no problem with the church adapting to the culture, we must ensure that we remain painstakingly true to the Gospel of Jesus Christ and that we remain obedient servants to His truths.
As Jesus stated: “He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me …” (John 14:21).
From World Net Daily:
A plan being shoved down a fast track in the Oregon Legislature would give homosexuals a vast range of new state laws they could use to impose their moral perspective on Christians across the state, according to opponents who fear for their speech and religious expression rights.
Senate Bill 2, on its face, is written to enshrine in state law special protections for homosexuals by classifying them as a protected civil rights group. But hundreds of pastors – whose churches include tens of thousands of evangelical Christians – are horrified by what they see advancing virtually without opposition.
“Senate Bill 2, in the Oregon House of Representatives, if passed, will limit your free speech rights and rights of conscience; require public schools to teach that homosexual/lesbian/bisexual behavior is ‘okay’ and ‘moral’; impact your rights as a business owner; and put judges in authority on certain church matters,” according to David Crowe, of the Christian ministry called Restore America.
Do I post one thing two different places? Do I just link from one to the other?
I wrote a bit about John Trebilcock and what I have discovered about him. It is here.
I worked on this website. GetRightOk.com What a clever name! I wonder who thought of it… :) Please go to it, sign up on the forum, and discuss, fight, or whatever. There is a soapbox forum that I just had to create. I figured it would be good to have a place where you can just rant and rave to your heart’s content. Not everyone has a blog. :)
Let me know what you think!
